Calgary Weekender: March 16 through 18, 2012

Friday evening we have you heading to LimeLighter’s Intrigue – An Art Show. For any art lover, you definitely need to check this out. Located at 1301 10 Avenue SW, there will be abstract paintings, ceramics, spoken word, photography and live music from 6pm to 12am.

Saturday is clearly a lucky day…it’s St. Patrick’s Day!

Start the day off early by checking out or participating in the Diakonos 6th Annual St. Patrick’s 10K and 5K Run/Walk taking place at 10am at Eau Claire Market, 200 Barclay Parade S.W.

For those YPs looking to celebrate the luck of the Irish, there are multiple spots where you can wear green and quench your thirst. The following are where some of our favourite St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations will be taking place with drink specials, live music and lots of YPs celebrating – just make sure to get there early as there is bound to be some line-ups.

Rose and Crown
Ceili’s Irish Pub
Molly Malones
Ship and Anchor
Craft Beer Market

Looking for something a little more low-key? This weekend also brings Market Collective – Pot O’ Gold. On location this weekend will be Little Mutts Rescue, the Bike Route and the talented Jocelyn Alice.

Saturday and Sunday you also have the opportunity to check out the annual Calgary Health Show at the Calgary Stampede Big Four Building. The Health Show provides new, reliable and practical diet, supplement, exercise and lifestyle tips that promote healthier living. Between the daily roster of inspiring seminars with Canada’s leading health experts, explore the aisles enjoying an abundance of tasty food and beverage products. Learn about innovative health products, services and fitness techniques or relax with a bodywork treatment in their Bliss Room.

Sunday is a day for brunch and though we all have our favourite diners that specialize in all things breakfast, we suggest mixing it up a bit this weekend and checking out somewhere a little out of the ordinary. Many pubs throughout the city are open and offer great brunch menus. Some of our favourites include:
