Thursday 

SCENE Free Outdoor Movies; grab your lawn chair, cozy blanket, popcorn and whatever else suits your movie-watching fancy and head to Canada Place.  This Thursday kicks off a summer of flicks featuring Back to the Future. Show gets rolling at dusk.

Hop on board the Sidecar Trolley Tour this Thursday night for a travelling party like no other (hosted by the guys behind The Social Concierge). Now celebrating its eight anniversary, it’s a special craft brewed edition perfect for summer sipping. Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Indian Summer Festival is on for one final weekend and there’s plenty worth checking out. It’s a multiple-day celebration of art, music, poetry and live performances. Friday, catch the multi-disciplinary artists from around Canada at the Lit & Sound Cabaret.   Saturday, indulge in a dinner by Starlight created by Vikram Vij featuring special guests, THE DABBAWALAS OF MUMBAI. Saturday

Khatsalano Festival is back and taking over a 10-block section of Kitsilano this Saturday. Featuring eight different stages for live performances from 50 local indie bands, three beer gardens, local artisans and patios prime for people watching, it’s a truly amazing summer festival in our city. Make your way there by foot or bike (organizers expect close to 119,000 people to check it out) and wear plenty of sunblock.  

Port & Starboard 2.0 is back for another noteworthy year to raise funds and awareness for motionball. Dress in your nautical best, be sure to grab tickets ($39+tax) and head to The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Yaletown‘s rooftop patio for a swanky brunch with benefits. 

The UBC Farm Market is one of Vancouver’s only working farmers markets and a great place to head to when hunting for the best locally produced offerings; score freshly laid eggs, get a 30-minute tour of the farm, and support sustainable production close to home. 

Saturday, Sunday

The Annual Wiener Races are back and taking over the Hastings Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday. It’s an irresistibly cute race featuring vertically challenged Dachshunds as they race their way to win $2500 in prizes. Sponsored by Schneider’s (of course), kick back, place your bets, grab a beer and watch the hilarity unfold as some run the course while others meandre off to inspect the grounds accordingly.  

Sunday

Food Cart Fest (starting at noon until 5pm) is a weekly gathering of Vancouver’s top food carts complemented by community markets, live music and DJs, craft food vendors, kids activities, and more. Food Cart Fest was created to highlight the diverse and delicious culture of street food in Vancouver. Not strictly for foodies though, Food Cart Fest is also about enjoying the summer with friends and family.
