Toronto Weekender: October 25 through 28, 2012

It’s the hallowed weekend, folks, which means there’s no shortage of hot events in the city to get your ghoulish groove on. Add that to a couple new restaurants, and you’ve got yourself a pretty notable weekend. Read on…

Thursday
Awesome news, food fans. Pizzeria Libretto and Porchetta & Co. have teamed up to offer an amazing porchetta pizza at both Libretto locations. Chef Nick from P&C is doing up his famed porchetta, so you can get the same amazing pork on a very limited edition pizza. So limited, it ends tonight. Check it out for a delicious – and exclusive – bite of bliss.

Halloween has arrived! This weekend is packed with events, and tonight sees one of our fave NFPs – the National Advertising Benevolent Society – celebrating in notable style at This is London. Aptly named “From Desk Till Dawn”, this is a chance to get down and boogie as only NABS knows how.

Friday
Patria has finally opened! Yes, after much anticipation, Weslodge’s sister resto finally opened its doors on Wednesday night. Hallelujah! Featuring some spectacular Spanish tapas and full plate cuisine – along with the best damned Iberico ham you can find – Patria is one for the books…so go now and check on in for Friday dinner!

On through Monday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Art Toronto 2012 is an International Art Fair that showcases contemporary and fine art on a grand scale. This year, the theme is Focus Asia, and features over 200 galleries and exhibitors highlighting some of their most prized works for thousands to enjoy, purchase, and discuss. Check it out for a dose of culture on Friday night.

Celebrate the end of Fashion Week tonight at Bloke & 4th with It’s All Style to Me and Triarchy. Featuring lots of fashion, the trio behind Vancouver-based Triarchy denim in the house, and plenty of cocktails to go around, this is one sartorial way to say goodbye to this edition of Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week.

Insofar as Halloween events are concerned, tonight sees Monster Mash at the Guv and Nuclear Fallout at This is London. Click here for more info.

Saturday
A unique exhibition exploring the design and style of the world’s most iconic movie brand, Designing 007 is a retrospective of all things Bond at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The exhibition is on through January 20, but the opening night gala was Thursday, so it’s in your best interest to check it out early!

Dinner at Nyood on a Saturday is always a fun affair, and they’ve got some killer cocktails on tap for Halloween and the fall season. Head on over, snatch a table with the crew, order up a Fall Sazerac, and nosh on some tasty bites.

From Scary Storys to the Haunted Mansion, a Halloween Massacre to the Diablo Ball, there’s a slew of killer Halloween events on tonight. Click here to see ’em all.

Sunday
Brunch on Sunday calls for something a bit hidden… but oh so worth the trek. Farmhouse Tavern in the Junction is a farm-to-table style restaurant that’s currently being showcased on Discovery Channel’s reality show that takes junk and turns it into beauty. Their brunch menu is ever changing and oh so sublime, so make the travels and see for yourself.

Looking for a fun and festive food tour? Ride and Go Feast is on Sunday, taking you to three restaurants where the chefs are cooking up three special spooky courses. Start with an amazing Halloween inspired app and cocktails at Riverside Public House, move on to Fuel House for a sexy cocktail and boo-rger, and end up at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen for a smoking cauldron cocktail and pumpkin bourbon cheesecake. We’re drooling already. All this in support of Daily Bread Food Bank. Stop hunger by satisfying yours.

One of our favourite restaurants, Acadia in Little Italy, needs no introduction. (Well, just in case… they boast some of the best Acadian/Southern food in the city and have one of the best cocktail programs out there.) On through Halloween, they’ve got half price wine specials, so what better time to check ’em out?
