Miriam Toews, author of A Complicated Kindness, a Governor General’s award winner, as well as Canada Reads 2006 selection, will be at the Bloor Cinema to present the documentary Marwencol and participate in a Q&A with the audience. Of the film, Toews says, “It’s a profoundly moving story about art and suffering and memory and about the lengths an individual will go to to survive and to make sense of his or her world.” So popcorn and tissues then.

So 16 of Toronto’s best mixologists are getting together to see who can put together the most impressive cocktail, with the top two moving on to Montreal to represent our city in a national battle. And you can be there to watch, sip on the exclusive tastings of each innovative drink, and vote for your favourite. John Bunner (Yours Truly), Joe Howell (The Spoke Club), Casey Ryan (Marben), Jeff Puddy (Thompson Hotel), and Andres Marquez (Fonda Lola) are just a few of the talented collection who’ll be in attendance. Best Monday ever?
