Today’s Notable 3some in Toronto: April 9, 2014

Here’s a trio of the hottest things you can do on Hump Day.*

The National
Where: Massey Hall
When: 8:00pm

How many times do we have to tell you about these guys? The first show of their three-night stand at Massey Hall kicks off tonight and we suggest you scour the Internet to find a ticket. From indie darlings to Grammy nominations, SNL to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, The National continues to put on unforgettable shows every time they take the stage. Be there.

Skaters
Where: Drake Underground
When: 8:00pm

A second musical act if the first doesn’t catch your fancy. Unlike The National, Skaters are only one album deep and focus on writing catchy pop songs – instead of the dark and melancholic melodies The National tend to put together. NYC by way of L.A., these guys don’t actually skate, but we’re pretty sure that they could end up being big anyway. Lets give them a local’s welcome.

Art
Where: OCAD, 100 McCaul Street, Great Hall
When: 7:00pm

Want to see what the next generation of Canadian artists is up to? Well, the annual OCAD retrospective show opens tonight and will feature works from all years and departments’ accomplishments. Go find out what the (artistic) kids are up to these days.

*Of course, no one would blame you for staying in to contemplate the passing of a legend. Even if he was crazy and really offensive
