The Royal Canadian Legion #1 will come to life this Saturday night thanks to the party makers behind BassBus and the multi-talented creative collaboration known as the Dirty Gramophones.
Welcome to TAROT, a fun and mysterious party with big sounds, cool sets and a scene that is equal parts Burning Man, art bash and Old World gypsy.
At the main stage, or Major Arcana, you can catch a full night’s worth of DJs and upstairs there will be a series of local musicians performing on the Minor Arcana stage.
The fabulously funky Dirty Gramophones will be playing an impressive three-hour choreographed performance with the Garter Girl burlesque troupe. For those of you who will be seeing the Gramophones for the first time, this musical extravaganza dabbles in everything form spinning to swing dance and horns.
To make the soiree even more enticing and occult, guests will have the chance to step into the aura-reading booth (compliments of Fallen Angel Creations From Above). Based on the science of colour therapy and energy medicine, you’ll leave with a fascinating photo showing off the shades of your body and mind.
If auras aren’t part of your agenda, you’ll still want to explore the venue to catch the roaming art performances and installations. There will be no shortage of visual candy to take in; if you’re looking for even more adventure, seek out the tarot card reader who will be available to pull cards and discover what’s in the stars for you.
The TAROT Party will start to swing into full effect after 10pm, but if you want to show up a little earlier, Free Aphrodite will be on site offering their complimentary services to apply false eyelashes and eye stencil art for anyone who wants to get into the groove of the night.
This will be the most unique party happening this weekend, so skip the bar line and try something new. Tickets can be purchased here or you can visit Grassroots Hemp (112 10th Street NW) in Kensington to pick up a special tarot card that doubles as your ticket.
