Run Around Calgary for a Cause this Saturday at the BeCause Why?Race

On May 11, BeCause, a United Way of Calgary and Area initiative that aims to ensure the next generation of Calgary philanthropists and leaders are involved and engaged with their community, is holding its 3rd annual Annual Why?Race between 11am and 4pm.

Their goal is to develop initiatives that engage, inspire, motivate, empower and educate a younger demographic of business professionals (age 20 to 40) to lead the community towards a better future.

Teams of four racers spend the day running around downtown Calgary having fun while learning about the work of United Way. Last year’s scavenger hunt-ish obstacle course involved a giant structure built from cans of food and pieces of Ikea furniture, which were later donated to the community. The race has been designed to challenge participants to get to know their city better. It starts at Eau Claire Market (200 Barclay Parade SW) with celebrations to follow at 4pm at Ceili’s Irish Pub (351 4 Avenue SW).

The cost is $100 for a team of four, and all racers get a T-shirt, some swag, refreshments and prizes;
if you’re solo and hoping to join a team, email because@calgaryunitedway.org and they’ll try to find a team that is in need of more participants.
