For the past six months, we’d been wondering what was going on at 504 Jarvis. We drove past the red Gooderham family mansion almost daily, yet couldn’t remember the last time anything notable had taken up residence there. Now we know.
Osteria Dei Ganzi opened its doors for us, along with 20 other Toronto food and lifestyle publications, on May 3rd to experience what this bound-to-be-hotspot considers a tribute to Italian wine, food and culture.
With ingredients imported directly from Italy, diners can look forward to menu highlights such as swordfish Carpaccio and osso buco with black peppercorn cremolata and risotto Milanese. Another noteworthy detail is that all gnocchi, pasta and pizza is made in-house.
Ganzi has definitely nailed what makes authentic osterie remarkable: a highly recommendable wine, cocktail and aperitivo list, along with a happy hour vibe that rivals that of any in the city given its majestic space.
If you’re stopping by for a drink after work, here’s what you’ll find on tap, so to speak: negronis, sidecars and boulevardiers, a potent mix of bourbon whiskey, Campari, sweet vermouth, bitters and orange oils.
You’ll find Ganzi hard to miss at 504 Jarvis Street, just north of Wellesley.
