Prince Announces Two Surprise Toronto Shows for Good Friday

Prince is coming to Toronto, and you barely have time to get excited – because it’s happening tomorrow and tickets will be on sale as of 10am today.

The artist formerly known as an unpronounceable symbol announced two surprise shows at the Sony Centre on Twitter yesterday.

There will be two shows, one at 7pm and another at 10pm this Good Friday, as part of Prince’s Piano and Microphone tour.

Those lucky enough to get tickets will experience an “exclusive and intimate” performance, and to top that off each audience member will receive a CD copy of the music legend’s new album, HITNRUN. Not that you have a CD player to play it on.

Prince certainly seems to be a fan of Toronto. He wowed fans last May with back to back shows, and he’s been spotted at Raptors games in the past. So if the feeling’s mutual, cross everything and try your luck at getting tickets here.

The Piano and Microphone tour started back on January 21 at his Paisley Park recording studio when the seasoned rocker performed two very personal shows for fans who had travelled all over the world to see him. And if that show was anything to go by, Toronto concertgoers could be in for a treat.

As a statement on the Sony Centre website states, Rolling Stone reported that he performed a chronological set of the first ten years of his career, including at least one song from each of his first ten albums, all whilst shrouded in smoke on a candlelit stage.

“For those blessed enough to attend, everything about these exclusive performances has been carefully considered to deliver special once-in-a-lifetime experiences…Fans should expect to witness special interpretations of well-known hits alongside rarely performed B-sides and new, never-before-heard material.”

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life…
