If you’ve done your time in the delicious King & Portland restaurant scene, you may have been lucky enough at some point to try a burrata pizza or some oil-doused bread balls at Buca Restaurant.
Maybe you’ve even been fortunate enough to enjoy a phenomenal espresso with your biscotti-bruschetta breakfast at Bar Buca. And now, if your Italian cravings happen to hit when you’re in Yorkville, you’ll have no trouble remedying them with some of the best fare in the city.
Yesterday, the King Street Food company officially launched Buca Osteria & Bar at 53 Scollard, under the culinary mastery of Executive Chef Rob Gentile and Chef de Cuisine Ryan Campbell.
The new location serves as a Cafe from 8-5, serving specialty coffees and hand-crafted pastries, like cornetti and bomboloni. As the day carries on, they offer lunch from 11/11:30am – 3pm (weekend/weekday) and then dinner every evening.
The experience takes place in a spacious 3,400 sq. ft. layout with both bar and regular seating. The restaurant itself accommodates 85, with six seats additional seats at the bar. For the full experience, however, you’re going to want to secure one of the six spots at the Chef’s Counter to catch all the action and enjoy the chef’s exclusive tasting menu.
Buca Osteria & Bar offers the group’s trademark fare (like their mouth-watering pizzas and pastas) but also kicks it coastal style by offering a broader selection of fresh seafood and an unparalleled range of house-made salumi di mare.
We often hear the phrase, “Third time’s a charm”, but realistically, the first two times were already charms; this place is bordering on sorcery.
Make your way up to Yorkville, cut through the Four Seasons Courtyard, and check out the newest addition to this delicious trifecta. Though you might want to try to buc-a reservation first; we suspect they could be busy for a while…
