Notable Now Toronto: July 25, 2014

Boot and Hearts Festival
Date: July 31-August 3
Location: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bowmanville

Country music lovers unite: this festival is not for the faint of (country) heart. So much so that if you’re headed here, you’re going to end up in Bowmanville. Why? ‘Cause Toronto can’t handle this many cowboy boots. Expect Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock and many, many more to strut across the stage.

Taste of Toronto
Date: July 24-27
Location: Fort York

Notable.ca has been getting you ready for this foodie heaven for weeks now with their Chef Series. For three days, Fort York will be home to 16 of Toronto’s top restaurants all delivering the best food you’ve ever tasted. The first ‘taste’ festival of its kind to be held in North America, Taste of Toronto will not disappoint – mainly because they couldn’t have picked a better city for their debut.

Osheaga
Date: August 1-3
Location: Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène, Montreal

Yes, it’s in Montreal. And it’s already sold out (hit the internet now). But the shear number of Torontonians heading east on the 401 to catch this epic three-day festival grows every year. In fact, more than 40,000 people pack the venue every day to catch one of the 110 bands that, this year, will include the likes of Outkast, Jack White, Lorde, and Arctic Monkeys. Summer road trips are the best.

Session Muskoka
Date: August 2
Location: Annie Williams Park, Bracebridge

The only better thing than heading to Muskoka is heading to Muskoka to drink craft beer. Luckily, there’s a festival for that. The 6th annual Session Muskoka returns with wine, beer, spirits, and cider for all. With 15 breweries, live music, and a brewmaster Olympics, we’re pretty sure it’ll be impossible to be bored. But if it happens, there’s always the lake.

OVO Fest
Date: August 3-4
Location: Molson Canadian Amphitheatre

Drake is returning this year with his annual OVO fest featuring Outkast and, well, himself. Other special guests will remain unnamed until closer to the date, but last year’s surprise guests included Lil Wayne, Kayne West, and TLC. In it’s fifth year running, you know Drizzy is going to have something special up his sleeve.

Hart House Craft Beer Festival
Date: July 31
Location: 7 Hart House Circle

If Muskoka is just a little too far for you to go to dive into a great craft beer selection, you’re in luck. The 6th annual Hart House Craft Beer Festival offers one of the best curated selections in Canada. Each ticket includes eight sample beer tickets, a sampling glass, and an all-you-can-eat patio barbeque by Chef Marco Tucci. You might need to hit Craigslist to get in though.
