Need a Luxury Yacht for a Few Hours? There’s an App for That…

Think yachts are reserved for celebs, the Wolf of Wall Street types, and the models who date them?

Think again.

Following the growing trend to bring luxury to the masses, a San Francisco-based startup called GetMyBoat lets anyone captain one of the 31, 000 vessels listed on the company’s website.

Just $75 an hour to get on this Pontoon boat in North Miami Beach

In its roughly two years in business, the company has rented out everything from over-the-top Diddy-style yachts and vintage tall ships, to jet skis and canoes via its app. Rentals are available by the day or by the hour.

And really (aside from the seasick set), who doesn’t like being on a boat?

The thing, is of course, the cost to own and operate a boat – especially a luxury yacht – is way beyond what most of us can afford (yet). Not to mention, we don’t live in the warmest of climates. According to the company, the average boat user only uses their boat about 8 per cent of the year.

GetMyBoat rentals offer vessels that have been featured in some of your favourite films, like the vessels from Rum Diary or the James Bond film The World is Not Enough, and even the luxury yacht from the Lonely Island’s I’m On a Boat.

Or, you know, $31K for the day for 164ft of this beauty…

You can also get on everything from jet skies to canoes and even paddle boards.

Wherever your summer travels take you, you may want to check it out for yourself – GetMyBoat rentals are available in 3,300 cities across 135 countries around the world.
