THURSDAY
Talk about a packed Thursday! Let’s kick it off with our favourite donut shop, Leche Desserts, celebrating their one-year anniversary… and you bet it’ll be a yummy one! The stylish bakery will be unveiling their fall donut lineup, serving food and delicious drinks including the deadly El Tinieblo Mezcal. Of course a party wouldn’t be complete without a photo booth! Pop by, taste the best donuts ever (seriously) and meet some awesome people.

The hippest art stop on The Main is hosting a group show featuring works by a selection of New York street artists alongside a selection of Montreal street art works. “NYC meets MTL” will introduce guests to some key players in the current New York City street art movement, and educate viewers on their own city’s street art contributors. A true eye-pleasing gem!

FRIDAY
Since rain is in the forecast, a theatre play is always a great option. Centaur Theatre presents “ If We Were Birds,” a brave and ingenious adaptation of Book 6 of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, featuring a chorus of women, each a survivor of a 20th Century conflict. Winner of the 2011 Governor General’s Award for Drama, the play is a moving, funny and unsettling production that gives voice to women forced into silence through violence; an uncompromising examination of the transformative nature of revenge. Deep? Indeed. 

Dive into the world of the 40s! Come celebrate in the beautiful St-James Theatre at this magnificent YP-friendly soiree featuring a cocktail dinner, premium open bar and beats by none other than DJ YO-C.?Dress code is in full effect in the form of cocktail dresses for ladies, suit and tie for gentlemen. Respect for the 40s theme is optional. 100% of the proceeds are given to the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montreal (CHUM). Join dedicated young professionals to give the best in health care to patients of the CHUM. 

SATURDAY
Another beautiful exhibit to check out today at the stunning Galerie MX,  ”A Blaze of Glory” features the wonderful works of Vancouverite Scott Plear. His abstract work is noted for its risk-taking use of colour, texture, and layering, focusing on non-objective imagery. His practice of painting is concerned with the use of the visual elements as a means of expression, offering art lovers something to really talk about. 

Always dreamed of walking among the dead? Here is your chance, with the “Montreal Zombie Walk” starting at 3pm from the Place des Festivals in the Quartier des Spectacles. What’s a zombie walk, you ask? A zombie walk is a public manifestation, where participants walk around dressed as zombies wearing zombie makeup. Zombie walks have been organized before in several cities all around the world and it’s free and open to everyone. Worried about your Zombie makeup skills? You will be able to get “zombified” at the makeup tent from noon to 3pm for only $15. Get dead.

SUNDAY
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our friends at Matinée are teaming up with Moët & Chandon champagne and Vintage Style Lab to bring you the most glamorous and entertaining fundraiser in the city at Suite 701. Throw on some shades, eat the finest brunch, and sip on the best champagne all while listening to classic R&B and hip-hop by Toddy Flores, and the best in house by Danny Torrence. Benefits will go towards the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

On the sportier side of things, The Boston Celtics will play a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the NBA’s Canadian series. The teams will play at the Bell Centre and this is the second season the league has held preseason games in Canada. It’s a one-of-a-kind chance to experience the intensity and fun of the NBA in our fair city!
