Montreal Weekender: August 14 through 17, 2014

THURSDAY
Get your best white duds out because it’s Diner en Blanc time. This time around, more than 5,500 aficionados of culture, gastronomy and fun are expected to participate at the 6th edition of Diner en Blanc Montreal.

As always, the location remains a secret until the arrival of guests, who will be congregating from every corner of the city. If you can still get on the list, consider yourself majorly lucky.

Pier Victoria on the formerly-known Clock Tower Beach in the Old Port is hosting the Ile Soniq official kick-off party with I Love Neon and Saint Woods featuring Jay London, Anna Lunoe, Treasure Fingers and Senudiz. Kicking off at 5pm and going until 11pm, expect a great crowd, drinks and of course beats for hours.

FRIDAY
ILESONIQ, a new EDM and urban festival, is taking place August 15 and 16 at Parc Jean-Drapeau featuring major artists in the electronic, dance and hip-hop scenes. Headlining this two-day musical escapade is renowned DJ Tiësto, Iggy Azalea, Infected Mushroom, Bingo Players and many more.

Jah mon! Get your reggae on, young professionals, as the Montreal International Reggae Festival starts today and goes all the way until Sunday. Experience three days of colourful music showcasing internationally renowned reggae musicians as well as the best reggae ambassadors from Canada and the rest of the world. Our friends at Hype Energy drinks are the official sponsor and will be re-hydrating everyone throughout the day. Besides the incredible music, the festival also provides a wonderful ambiance filled with activities for children, kiosks for sporting merchandise of all sorts, restaurants, and information booths.

SATURDAY
Come celebrate the first edition of the Eastern Townships Airshow on the 16th & 17th of August. The event is being held at the Roland-Désourdy Airport where many international aerobatic performers have confirmed their participation and visitors will be able to admire many vintage aircraft as well as others of a more modern and unique design.

Located in the heart of Latin Quarter, L’Abreuvoir teams up for a new summer frenzy with the smart team behind Good Saturdays.

Twice a month, including today, Block Party will be a hymn to house music, good people and yummy soul food, which will highlight your sunny afternoons and early evenings. So if a New York street party is on your list of to-dos, this is it.

SUNDAY
The boys at Matinee are back and have teamed up with PANDORE this time around. Matinee is known for its theatrical-themed parties and PANDORE was built to tease all of your senses, which has become a staple in the Quartier des Spectacles. With all the gadgets, nobs and buttons, resident DJs Toddy Flores and Danny Torrence will have a field day figuring out what they all actually do. Sunday Funday, indeed.

Our favourite summer parade takes places today. The 2014 Montreal LGBTA Parade will start on the corner of Guy Street and travel east on René-Lévesque Boulevard, culminating on Sanguinet Street and the Village. The crowd will march to Place Émilie-Gamelin, where everyone is invited to continue the celebrations during the MEGA T-DANCE until the closing show. The parade will feature floats from hundreds of local sports teams, cultural and community groups, as well as other gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizations. The parade will also feature both gay and gay-friendly businesses that will be celebrating the significant contributions of their LGBT employees and clients. Support.
