Event Recap: Notable.ca and Apothic Wine Tour Toronto

We kicked off the first stop of our Notable.ca and Apothic Wine Tour in Toronto on Thursday, October 11, as around 120 of the city’s young professionals joined us at the swanky Bloke & 4th for an evening of networking, culinary indulgence and, of course, wine tasting.

On display was an endless flow of Apothic’s signature Red, an esteemed winemaker’s blend of some of the most unique grapes in the state of California. Picture intense fruit aromas highlighted by notes of rhubarb and black cherry, complemented with an undertone of chocolate varieties and vanilla.

The expertly mixed blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot was well received by guests in attendance – some with intricate wine palettes, others who were just starting to dive in. We’ll assume those who left before 9pm made a quick exit to grab a bottle at the LCBO down the street just before it closed.

No tasting is complete without the canapés to match, and what better pairing for this exotic blend than the fusion-heavy flavours of The Food Dudes (who are essentially Bloke & 4th). Highlights of the tasting menu included fire roasted shrimp with chilli honey, guacamole and sour mango and a delectable ginger carrot soup. A sure-fire sign of food being a hit? We noticed the crowd inching closer to where the servers were coming out as competition for the dozen or so hors d’oeuvres per tray became somewhat fierce.
