Best Spots for a Quick Lunch in Vancouver

When it comes to grabbing a quick bite to-go during the business day, we know your time away from the desk is precious, so we’ve got a few noteworthy suggestions to help young professionals feel satiated come mid-day.

A quick walk from many of the CBD towers in Vancouver will lead you to a plethora of deli-cious hot spots. We recommend you make your way to Gastown’s Meat and Bread (370 Cambie Street) for a fast, foodie fix on what we think are some of the most scrumptiously simple sandwiches in town. You won’t find anything too fancy-pants at this oft-packed spot, just simple and flavourful fixin’s (the Porchetta has all-but spawned its own fan club!)

Looking for another twist on classic bites for lunch? We love (love, love!) Finch’s Tea and Coffee House. This cozy location is just at the corner of Homer at W Pender (353 W Pender to be exact) and features freshly-made baguettes packed with over 15 different sandwich combinations that are guaranteed to get your mouth watering. We recommend the Avocado (stuffed with Edam, cucumber Dijon mayonnaise, toasted walnuts, and fresh avocado) or try the Pear (complimented by blue brie and sliced prosciutto) for a satisfying fix. Pressed for time? Our tip: Call ahead with your order for quick pick-up.

In a pinch for time? We’ve got you covered. Stop by one of the many popular food-carts that have popped up downtown. Our recommendation (for those that can’t get enough of BBQ brisket) is to check out The Re-Up BBQ cart in the heart of all the Robson Street action (between Hornby and Howe Streets). The crew at Re-Up has stripped the art of a good sandwich down to the basics – and they’ve done it well. Keep it simple with the pulled-pork, nestled in a tasty bun, oozing with crisp coleslaw and smothered in savoury sauce…it’s simply the best.

On the North Shore and in need of a lunch time nosh? Be sure to stop by a long-time favourite: Savary Island Pie Company and discover their take on an all-time favourite, the grilled cheese. Located at 1533 Marine Drive in West Vancouver, this is a great spot to grab some goods to go. Made on freshly-baked bread and filled with simple ingredients, this grilled cheese is simply oozing with flavourful goodness and perfectly crisp on the outside.
