Elevator Pitch: Describe your business in a nutshell.
Magnet Creative Management is a public relations and branding management agency which works with fashion, entertainment and lifestyle clients.

Why did you start your business, what was the inspiration?
After closing my first business in 2009, I wanted to focus on using all the skills I’d acquired over my career and be involved in projects that truly brought me fulfillment. My goal was to bring together all the experiences of my past to help connect fashion designers, stylists, media, and celebrities with one another.

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part of my day-to-day is keeping up on all the news and latest releases. I’ve never seen the scene in Toronto so vibrant and with such growth; it’s exciting to see what creative projects are coming up.

The most challenging part of my day-to-day is cramming all the things I want to do. I want to do it all.

Where do you see your business going in 5 years?
Even though I do have a plan set, I can’t wait to see what changes might come along and how my business will look five years from now. It could look very similar, or could take a very different direction.

What does success look like to you?
Success doesn’t look like anything to me. It simply feels like happiness.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
The most memorable thing that has happened to me so far in my career was being nominated as “Communicator of the Year” at the Scottish Fashion Awards last year and seeing my name on with all the other nominees. Attending the event in my hometown of Glasgow was an incredible experience.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Don’t let anyone ever say you can’t do something. Follow your intuition and do what feels right for you. Don’t stay in a situation which makes you unhappy – life is too short to have a career that doesn’t make you feel fulfilled.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
I also coordinate the Passion For Fashion program at the Youth Employment Services YES. It’s a government funded program through a partnership with YES and the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) which helps youth learn the skills to build a fashion business through workshops and mentorship. With the fashion industry being so creatively focused, a program like this is so important for youth to learn the key business skills they need to succeed.

What is Notable to you?
Anything that is different from the norm or new.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
Being on the go so much and having to be sending long emails from my phone, my Blackberry is an essential business tool for me.

How do you keep active, energetic, and vibrant?
People – I’m a people person and I thrive on others’ positive energy.
