Toronto’s Most Notable Snack Bars

As of late, Toronto has seen various takes on the snack bar opening shop. First came the sliders, followed by the one bite wonders. And while this may be an increasing trend, we have quite a few tried and true nibble nooks just perfect for that late night snack or pre-drinking nosh…

416 Snack Bar
The archetype for snack bars in Toronto, 416 is a shabby chic spot at Queen and Bathurst that draws a hipster crowd mixed with social YPs. The food is always on-point, with handheld bites awash in flavour. Bonus: 416 Snack Bar has an exceptionally priced wine list for the vinophiles.

Barton Snacks
With two locations – though the original Annex outpost is shuttered until May-ish – Barton Snacks is a grab-and-go snack bar beloved the city-wide thanks to its signature ice creams, quick treats, and old school aesthetic. It kind of reminds you of the shops near campsites. Ah, the nostalgia…

Happy Child
One of the city’s newer entries to the snack bar scene, Happy Child is aptly named, as you’ll leave this joint content as a clam. With an updated menu of snack classics – fried chicken, Philly cheesesteak, etc. – and some delicious wines and classic drinks, Happy Child is one late night hotspot you’ll want to return to again and again.

Goods and Provisions
The name promises exactly what you’ll get… sort of. This Leslieville bar has a small menu of rotating bar favourites that cozy up alongside some exceptionally tasty prohibition-era cocktails. From the owners of The Comrade, Goods and Provisions is a tavern of the highest calibre, and it’s only a bridge away from downtown.

A-OK Foods
The folks behind Yours Truly recently opened up A-OK Foods on the strip of Queen West near Ossington. This snack bar and ramen shop boasts some delicious Asian takes on classic snacks, like the Chino wings, and tofu ceviche. Or simply order up a tostada with some Horchata and sip the evening away.
