The Top Four Spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart Are Occupied by Canadians

Billboard’s Hot 100, the definitive guide to popular but not necessarily good music, has been the industry standard for measuring artist success for over half a century.

And for the first time in its 60-year history, four Canadians dominate the top of the chart.

That’s right, the top four artists based on radio play, online streaming, and sales in the entire world at this very moment are Canadian.

The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ tops the chart for the second week in a row, followed by Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ (which should probably be number one), Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean’, and ‘Stitches’ by Shawn Mendes, who was a Vine star last we checked.

Top spot is familiar territory for The Weeknd, whose track ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ sat at number one last week. He’s the first artist to replace himself at the top of the Billboard singles chart since Taylor Swift last year.

All four artists are from the Toronto-ish area.

In case you’re not tired of them yet:
