The Best Shave: Shear Worthy Spots in Vancouver

This is a bookmark-worthy post for all the notable guys participating in Movember…

We’re just passed the first week of whisker-growing here in Vancouver, and though this 30-day hiatus from shaving above the lip is all for a great cause, there will come a time when moustaches must be shorn (and ladies will undoubtedly rejoice!) As we creep towards that moustache-removal moment, why not celebrate with an old-fashioned hot shave at one of these spots?

Momentum Grooming is conveniently located at 1237 Burrard Street and an easy stop for any guy heading in or out of town. Since opening more than seven years ago, this parlour offers the whole shebang and plenty of specialty products to suit all skin and face care needs. Pricing for traditional trims and luxury shaves are very reasonable, and while you’re at it consider checking in for the full barber treatment. (They do custom cuts too!)

Kitsilano Barbers is located at 2387 W. 4th Avenue and offers a no-nonsense take on old-fashioned razor shaves for men in a classic 50s-style Barbershop setting.

Farzad’s Barber Shop is a Yaletown favourite and one of our go-to spots. Just steps off of Homer Street, you’ll find yourself surrounded by old-school comforts, steeped in tradition – right down to the classy, leather-backed chairs. This spot all-but screams Godfather to us, and the services are well-priced and well-honed (owner, Farzad Salehi has been in the business for more than 26 years).

JD’s Barbershop in Gastown is our next pick when Movember comes to an end. Find them located at 235 Abbott Street and score a sweet, deluxe hot shave for only $30! They also offer a plethora of other services ranging from cuts to clips to fades and colouring – whatever suits your style. If you’re privy enough to have a Vancouver Club membership (or can slip in as a guest), JD’s has a second location there too.
