A Real-life Mario Kart Track is Coming to Niagara Falls Next Month

Haven’t been to Niagara Falls in a while? Well, you’re about to get as good a reason as any to “Canada’s Vegas.”

That’s because the city is going to unveil a real-life Mario Kart track on June 1.

Officially called the ‘Niagara Speedway’, the attraction is North America’s largest elevated go-cart track facility. Self-proclaimed “go-karts on steroids,” as the official website puts it.

“You drive on a road course for a portion of the race and then spiral up … to about 40 feet, and then come down a long hill … kind of like the way a wooden coaster would be,” says Harry Oakes, President of HOCO Limited, who owns and operates many of the attractions in the area.

One look at the picture and you’ll see why it can be referred to as a real-life Mario Kart track:

The go-karts, meanwhile, are J&J F-22 Doubles (includes 9 Horsepower Honda Engines). No word yet if they’ll come equipped with banana peels.
