Just Opened: John & Sons Oyster House
Dear oyster lovers of the Great City of Toronto: please prepare yourselves for some jubilation… John & Sons Oyster House shucked its way into town about three weeks ago, opening up shop at 1 Balmoral Avenue in Midtown. Aside from the namesake food – and you’ll find plenty varieties here – they’re also serving up homemade chowder, lobster grilled cheese, and other seafood delights.

Just Opened: JaBistro
At 222 Richmond Street West you’ll find JaBistro, a new cozy hideaway for Toronto’s sophisticated Japanese cuisine lovers. Taking a gourmet approach to modern Japanese eats, JaBistro sees a comfortable room replete with the as-goes-all exposed brick, but with gorgeous presentation and interesting takes on updating sushi and other Japanese bistro fare.

Just Opened: Troika Vodka Boutique
There’s a new vodka bar in town, but this one’s got a boutique edge. Troika Vodka Boutique recently opened at 95 King Street East, elevating the clear liquor to opulent status. The room is awash with elegance harkening old school aristocracy, and the vodka’s are displayed with allusions to glory.

Put Up Your Dukes
On Nov. 15 at the Fifth Social Club (225 Richmond Street West), join other young professionals, philanthropists and cause-driven tastemakers at this year’s Put Up Your Dukes. This event, in support of the Lewin Family Room to be built at CAMH, aims to raise awareness about mental health and illness in an exciting and engaging way including gourmet food, cocktails, live entertainment, and a silent auction.

Chef’s Challenge for a Cure
Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri headlines this year’s Chef’s Challenge For a Cure in support of Mount Sinai Hospital, alongside other prominent chefs Lynn Crawford, Mark McEwan, Chuck Hughes, Michael Smith, and David Rocco. Participants fundraise to attend the event, and the top 50 fundraisers get to cook with the chefs and duke it out in the kitchen. It all goes down Dec. 1 at Fairmont Royal York.

Bond Martini Thursdays
To celebrate the 50 Years of Bond exhibition at TIFF Bell Lightbox, seven restaurants surrounding the film mecca have concocted seven Bond-themed martinis that you can sip – shaken, not stirred – Thursday nights through Jan. 17. Try Hush’s Casino Royale, or Luma’s Moneypenny. They’re all fit for an international spy. Visit notable.ca to see all the cocktails and restaurants involved.
