Valentine’s Couples’ Cooking Class
Looking for a something new and exciting for you and your date this Valentine’s Day? Here is your chance to get hands on and learn some new culinary skills that are sure to impress. SAIT is hosting a couples-only cooking class on February 14th from 6-9pm at their downtown campus. The menu has not yet been announced, but you can guarantee you’ll leave with a few new skills in the kitchen as you prepare your delicious dinner for two. The cost is $75 per person. River Cafe For Two
If cooking classes aren’t really your thing, and you’re hopeless in the kitchen, you can count on River Cafe to provide an excellent Valentine’s Day dinner for you and your date. Fish, game and vegetarian choices are available on this delicious progressive ‘Taste of Place’ menu. You won’t run out of options for wine with their award-winning list, but if it overwhelms you there are select pairings available. The cost is $95 per person (wine not included). Ice Skating – Prince’s Island Park
If you are looking for a romantic activity this week, then you should head down to Prince’s Island Park for a little ice skating. Prince’s Island Park maintains a large lagoon for ice-skating (the quintessential Canadian winter activity) complete with lighting and music. If you plan to drive down you can park on Memorial drive at the curling rink or along the Eau Claire shopping centre. Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted, but the rink is open until 11pm every evening.
Acro Yoga and Raw Chocolate Making
Stumped for what to do for your yogi valentine? Yoga Passage Studio is hosting an afternoon of acro yoga and raw chocolate making with their resident nutritionist. It all goes down February 15th from 1-4pm. Sign up with your special someone to go through a yoga practice with a focus on balance, trust and communication to get you flying through the acro partner postures. Cost is $100 per couple! Exposure Photography Festival
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Mark Laurie will share his secrets of boudoir photography during a Canon Exposure Seminar at Canon Image Square – 545 8th Avenue SW. This talented local photographer will be discussing how lighting and posing are key to effortlessly beautiful photos. Laurie has been working as a photographer for over 30 years and is a true master at capturing the female form. The seminar happens on February 15th from 6-8:30pm. The cost is $99.
