Lily Mae’s Gives Us One More Reason to Visit Gastown

Since opening about 19 months ago, Lily Mae’s French-inspired bistro has become a steadfast favourite for Gastown locals and savvy Vancouverites who know a thing or two about top-notch quality food, service and atmosphere.

Owned and operated by partners Armand Tencha and Jeff Jefkins, Lily Mae’s melds the perfect blend of fresh, unpretentious food in a warm and welcoming setting. They’ve garnered accolades and awards, won over new friends (not to mention the love of all the local young professionals who stop by for the bottomless treats jar, which sits near the door). Lily Mae’s truly is a place in which you feel as though you’ve arrived to a second home upon entry.

Located at 12 Powell St. in the historic Ferguson Block of Gastown, the restaurant’s airy, high-ceiling space is accented with bright white tile floors and exposed brick walls that prominently feature original works of art created by the owners and friends. From the mezzanine to the eclectic music and wide range of artwork, the Cafe brings a welcome dash of bohemian flair to Maple Tree Square.

As the change of seasons brings a change in tastes and ingredients, the Lily Mae culinary team has collaborated with Chef Karl Gregg to offer up a refreshed take on their dinner menu as well as worked on a newly revamped lunch menu (service just commenced this week).

Both menus combine European classics like beef Bourguignon and tuna Nicoise with comforting North American dishes that have been given a continental twist. Think poutine with a red wine gravy and duck confit mac and cheese. Throughout the menu, the ingredients, like locally caught fish, Fraser Valley poultry, local meats from Big Lou’s Butcher Shop and foraged wild mushrooms, are sourced close to home for freshness, sustainability and great taste.

Lily Mae’s is open at 5pm for dinner Tuesday-Saturday; from 10am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday, and from 11:30am-2:30pm Tuesday-Friday, for Lunch.
