Labour Day Weekend Cocktail Guide

The last weekend of summer is finally upon us and odds are you’ve got some plans for the weekend as we bid farewell to what was definitely one for the books. Over the summer, we have grown partial to a few beverages. Here are our cocktails of choice this Labour Day Weekend for everything from chilling dockside to a backyard BBQ with friends.

Lakeside Brunch: Mott’s Labour Day Caesar
Maximize those final lazy mornings of summer with the beloved all-Canadian Caesar. To make things easy, grab a case of premade Mott’s Clamato Ready-To-Drink Caesar Original before you hit the road for the cottage. It also makes the perfect drink for a late summer pre-dinner drink, especially when served with a salty snack. The best part about this Caesar recipe? The added touch of the pretty and appetizing cheese-pickle kebab.

You will need:
1 Mott’s Clamato Ready-To-Drink Caesar Original
Celery Salt rim
Cheese-Pickle Kebab garnish

What to do:
Fill a rimmed highball glass with ice, and then pour the Mott’s Clamato Ready-To-Drink Caesar into the glass. If you like it spicy, add Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and top off with cheese and pickle kebab.

On the Dock: Beer Margaritas
This beer-inspired twist on the classic margarita that we YPs love so much is a guaranteed hit for your cottage guests this summer. Making a refreshing mid-afternoon option, it offers a little something for both beer and cocktail drinkers.

What You’ll Need:
1 can frozen limeade concentrate
12 ounces tequila (white or gold)
12 ounces water OR 7UP
12 ounces lime, cut into wedges
Ice

What to do:
Pour limeade, tequila, water (or 7UP), and beer into a large pitcher. Stir until it is well blended and limeade has melted. Add no shortage of ice, and garnish with lime wedges. If needed, adjust with additional water.

The Pool Party or BBQ: Grey Goose Berry Lemonade Pitcher
Ideal for afternoons around the pool or when hosting friends for a backyard BBQ, the Grey Goose Berry Lemonade pitcher offers a refreshing treat with a blend of citrus, fresh, fruity and sweet. The easy-to-sip taste of Grey Goose Le Citron Flavored Vodka combines with the fresh flavour of ripe raspberries and fresh-squeezed lemonade. It will also work well when done with blueberries, blackberries or strawberries, or with them served on the side.

What You’ll Need:
Grey Goose Le Citron: 16 parts
Fresh Squeezed Lemonade: 32 parts
Raspberries: 12 parts
Sugar: 8 parts

What to Do:
In a large pitcher, muddle the raspberries and sugar. Add the Grey Goose Le Citron Flavored Vodka and fresh lemonade. Stir well. Pour into highball glasses filled with ice and garnish with lemon and raspberries. Get the girls together; it serves eight.

Pre-Dinner Cocktail to Toast Summer: Malibu Bellini
Try an Italian classic with a cheeky Malibu coconut twist for a nice way to unwind on the balcony or in your backyard with friends, family or your SO before either heading out for dinner or making it.

You’ll Need:
30ml of Malibu rum
3 raspberries
Sparkling wine/champagne
1 slice of lemon

What to Do:
Combine the ingredients in a shaker. Shake and double strain in a champagne glass and top off with bubbles. Garnish with lemon zest.

The Pre-Party: Tromba Paloma
When Tromba hit the shelves last year, many YPs suddenly became tequila drinkers thanks to its unbelievably smooth taste. To get the evening started before a night on the town, we recommend the Tromba Paloma.

What You’ll Need:
45ml Tromba Blanco
200ml Grapefruit soda
Fresh Lime
Salt

What to Do:
Build all ingredients over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a squeeze of fresh lime and a pinch of salt. Easy.
