We had the opportunity to check out one of Canada’s premier lifestyle shows this week and got an insider’s scoop on all things fashionably-related within the surf, skate and outdoor-living industry.
This bi-annual event all but takes over the Vancouver Convention centre with hundreds of vendors setting up pop-up style stores and demo spaces to showcase their wares for media, fashion bloggers and buyers alike. We met several up-and-coming young Canadian designers and noteworthy local business owners while meandering our way through a seemingly endless see of super sweet brands.
KnowShow is the perfect way to score a solid sense of what’ll likely hit store shelves for the Spring/Summer 2013 season. It also provides a great venue for casual chatting among key young professionals working with locally and globally known names such as Sitka, Gentle Fawn, Mavi, Quicksilver and RVCA about the challenges faced working in such a competitive industry.
This being the opening event for the weekend-long event, there was of course the obligatory Red Bull sponsored beer garden and DJ on-hand helping enhance the laid-back nature of the show (though don’t be fooled, we saw plenty of business being negotiated).
