Hairstylist Trolls Entire Internet With Viral Haircut Video

When you imagine what the hottest female haircuts are, textured layers, fringe bangs, or a long bob might come to mind.

But Facebook page Barbershapp shared a video of a new cut that’s really making the world reconsider what exactly constitutes style in 2016. They described this edgy new look as “quirky, stylish, and smooth” and asked their followers if it’s a new trend in the making.

In the video you can see a hairstylist cutting deep, blunt layers in random shapes into a young woman’s hair. After completing multiple rounds of trims, the hairstylist teases what’s left of the woman’s hair to add volume and then leaves several pieces hanging down in front of her face.

The entire process is extremely cringe worthy and it’s alarming to see that the woman didn’t once cry or freak out over the massacre that’s taken place on her head.

The internet of course couldn’t control its disappointment over the video, which has now been viewed more than 12 million times. Viewers took to the comment box to share their disbelief, where one user wrote: “I think I can safely speak on behalf of the nation by saying that this is most definitely NOT going to be a trend. I have no other words.”

Another user chimed in with: “Stylish???? Can safely say I will not be jumping on this band waggon to have mine done. Looks like a crazy person who cut her own hair. Like when kids cut their own fringe !!!!”

With more than 53,000 comments, you can understand how confused people were by this new style.

But luckily, to restore the sanity of everyone who saw the original video hairstylist Aleona Starzhinskaia, of HairFucker Studio in St. Petersburg, Russia, came forward with an explanation for the viral video.

“It was her birthday and she asked me [to] shave her head, so we decided [to] make something interesting and shoot [a] video about it,” Starzhinskaia told Refinery 29 over Facebook message.

“In a few hours, I turned her into [a] blonde and started [to] make this cut; most of this was…improvisation.”

Starzhinskaia made it clear that the haircut was simply for fun, and the plan was to give the model a buzz cut all along.

“It is just fashion; this is not for every day,” Starzhinskaia said. “But I hope in [the] future…”

Luckily the world can sleep peacefully and no longer worry that their hairstylist might recommend this cut for them in the future. Watch the full video below where you’ll see the head shaved at the end.
