This Job Offers $400K with 12 Weeks Vacation…And It’s Been Vacant for Two Years

“Is anyone here a doctor!?”

…is what one man in New Zealand has been urgently asking for two years.

That man is Dr. Alan Kenny, who’s led a futile search to find a junior doctor to assist him at his practice in the north island town of Tokoroa, which is about 210 kilometres from Auckland. (The third best city in the world, by the way).

Dr. Kenny’s clinic has about 6,000 patients, a demand that sees him consult with around 40 patients a day. To say he needs help is quite an understatement. And yet, he can’t find a single doctor to jump aboard – a fact that’s even more staggering when you find out what he’s offering.

Anyone willing to work with Dr. Kenny will receive NZD $400,000 (about $368,000 CDN) a year in salary, 12 weeks vacation, and a four-day work week. Oh, and he’ll toss in half his practice – the kind of deal Dragons or Sharks would kill for.

“I can offer them a really, really amazing income; it’s incredible. My practice has exploded in the last year and the more patients you list, the more money you get,” the doctor told the New Zealand Herald.

How can this be possible? Is it a case of millennial entitlement? (‘Tokoroa has, like, only one gluten-free restaurant’). Poor advertising on Dr. Kenny’s part? Maybe there really aren’t any doctors around.

In any case, it’s safe to assume he’ll find a doctor to join his practice soon as the story picks up on the winds of the internet.
