Givenchy Creative Director and Nike Collaborate on Nike RT Range

Givenchy and Nike are notable enough on their own, so you can bet we’re excited that Givenchy Creative Director Riccardo Tisci is collaborating with Nike on a Spring 2014 range. The collection, dubbed “Nike RT,” will most likely consist of t-shirts and sneakers and has been described as being “strong without being loud.” Though they have released many collections with A.P.C., this is one of Nike’s biggest high-fashion stunts.

“For me, Nike represents a lot: my childhood, America… In Europe, America is the flag, McDonald’s, Marlboro, and Nike; for a kid it’s very important,” the 39-year-old Italian designer told Style.com. We can expect a monochromatic take on Tisci’s well noted streetwear approach from the newly released Nike RT video portrait. Tisci explains, “I couldn’t bring them technology, instead I brought my style, what people like me for, and what the young generation follows me for.”

We wonder what Tisci’s friend Kanye West is thinking, considering Kanye’s previous negative remarks about Nike (which he later apologized for) when the company didn’t pay him royalties after a Nike Air Yeezy collaboration. West has now taken an Adidas deal.

Considering Tisci’s laid-back, sportswear-inspired t-shirts and sweaters have become a hit on the scene, we are sure the limited edition collection will be triumphant.

Nike RT is to debut this spring (March) and will be available both at brick and mortar spots and at Nikestore. For more hints on the collection, follow Tisci on Instragram.
