Event Recap: 2014 Paws 4 a Cause’s ‘Animal House’

Montreal’s annual animal-loving event, the SPCA’s Paws 4 a Cause, was a spectacular success of furry fun and fundraising. This year’s edition, entitled Animal House, brought together over 300 of the city’s chicest animal-loving young professionals at the swank Espace Canal, where partygoers were able to get wild in the urban chic Canal Room and sip cocktails outside on the dazzling waterfront terrace. Aside from the freely flowing bar, guests were able to shake their tails to the untamed beats of DJ Yo-C and get in touch with their wild side with face and body painting and a fabulous photo station complete with animal-themed props.

Paws 4 a Cause is an entirely volunteer-based organization that seeks to bring public awareness and fundraising to the Montreal SPCA and other animal welfare organizations. Each year, the volunteers decide to allocate the money raised to a different facet of the SPCA. This year’s fundraising efforts will go directly to the understaffed Cruelty Investigations Department (CID), which combats animal cruelty by removing animals from abusive situations.

“We had a fantastic response to this year’s event,” said Nathaniel Devine, who has been on the Paws’ organizing committee for three years. “People had a lot of fun and the fact that it’s for a good cause is always a huge plus. The SPCA needs funds – what better way to help this amazing cause than to throw an awesome party?”
