Dolce 2014 Fundraiser: How Sweet it Was

With spring on the way in Montreal, a new social scene (and jam-packed YP agenda) is never far behind. Hitting our stride, we began at the city’s historic Loft Hotel for the swish Dolce 2014 fundraiser in support of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Established in 1973, the Foundation administers funds donated from corporations and individuals for the hospital’s benefit, specifically the purchase of specialized equipment, research support, and the creation of important programs.

But as with all great causes, there lies a great team behind it. The Young Leaders Circle is a group of model young professionals whose goal is to sensitize their peers to the mission of the Foundation by contributing their energy, talents and networks toward fundraising activities.

They clearly knew what they were doing; despite packing for a next-day flight to Paris, yours truly had a bird’s eye view to the action from his bedroom window – no excuse not to throw on the party wear and check out the scene.

The soirée more than hit all the high notes with great use of the renowned space off Sherbrooke Street. A media screen and take-home photos, as well as Au Premier giving hair and make-up touch-ups for the ladies, all greeted guests as they entered, while a larger room down the hall was glammed-out with a DJ spinning the beats, strategically placed open bars, an extensive silent auction with a bevy of sought-after items, and exclusive VIP room up a sweeping staircase.

But it was the theme that really shone, as there was hardly a free space not devoted to extravagant displays of dessert decadence. Thanks to some great partnerships, we grazed on candy, creative mini cupcakes and, a new personal fave (aka addiction), cake pops! With that kind of event synergy,  it’s no surprise that Dolce is well on its way to a permanent place on the Notable radar.
