Beloved homegrown DJ and electronic dance producer Deadmau5 could soon be your teacher.
Deadmau5 (whose real name is Joel Zimmerman) will host more than 20 lessons about making music for the online educational organization MasterClass.
As The Canadian Press reports, Deadmau5 will offer his seasoned advice on “melodies, mixing and mastering to make unique sounds you can’t find in a cookie cutter sample pack.”
Each session costs US$90 and comes with a digital workbook.
The initiative is part of a growing series of online lessons offered by MasterClass that feature the insight of famous faces that are probably a lot cooler than any of your university professors were.
Not to mention, it’s a lot more hands-on.
The company has already teamed up with Christina Aguilera to teach singing lessons and “The Social Network” screenwriter Aaron Sorkin to talk about story structure.
In case you were wondering, yes, Deadmau5 will remove his signature mau5head (which he once asked us to smell on a red carpet FYI) for the sessions.
