After what seemed like never-ending construction, doors finally opened last week at their massive 13,000 square foot establishment that can host up to 400. The venue: Vancouver’s cannot-miss iconic, red-hued Salt building, a long-time landmark that has been painstakingly preserved while everything around it has changed. The owners behind CRAFT (85 W 1st Avenue) committed to working with the design team to meet all LEED Gold Certified requirements. The end result reveals a spectacular meshing of vintage cool melded with elements of cozy-modern décor that’ll have you feeling right at home
Good thing, because you’ll want to get cozy when you venture over to CRAFT to sip your way through a few of their 140 different beers available on tap (50 of which are from BC). In fact, it could very well be an all-day challenge if you’re up for it.
Couple that with an extensive wine list (on tap and by bottle), an innovative menu of pub comfort food favuorites that they’ve dubbed to be ‘New North American Classic Cuisine’, and you’ve got a winning situation. Almost all (if not all) items are made in-house (including breads and buns) with locally sourced ingredients used to ensure quality.
We were impressed to find some truly unique food fixes on offer (say yes to the classic beer can chicken or try the 4oz brisket with beer-infused cheese and bacon garnished with a mini burger). Not up your alley? How about dipping into the cheeseburger sushi roll instead?
Larger parties or private events have an abundance of space to choose from. Select between a private keg room or score a great vantage point at CRAFT’s mezzanine located up a quick flight of stairs, overlooking the main wraparound bar area. Sports fans can rest assured; a multitude of screens strategically placed throughout guarantee you’ll never miss a goal.
CRAFT Vancouver’s cool vibe make it a place we think young professionals will want to head to for anything from after-work drinks with colleagues or a group of friends to a laid-back date night that won’t break the bank.
