This weekend features plenty of events fashionable young professionals in Calgary should have on their radar. First, we have Fabricated Firday night. Enjoy an evening of fashion, highlighting some of Calgary’s best local designers at Currie Barracks?(2633 Hochwald Ave SW). This special event and fashion show gives emerging designers the chance to showcase their work to the decision-makers and buyers for Calgary’s top boutiques and retailers.

We also suggest checking out ArtaWEARness XIII (March 8 + 9). The 13th annual wearable art performance extravaganza is taking over ACAD?(1407 14 Ave NW) this weekend. This year, 11 wearable art acts by ACAD students will showcase a variety of concepts, materials, characters and movement. ArtaWEARness XIII is a live performance show integrating fashion and art.

For the movie buff, this weekend also brings you the $100 Film Festival (March 7 – 9). Experience the diverse creativity that characterizes low-budget, independent filmmaking.

This weekend also brings you the International Festival of Animated Objects (March 9 -17). Calgary’s 10-year-old International Festival of Animated Object brings you more than 80 artists from around the world, who will descend on Inglewood for the week. If you love music, The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is bringing opera classics to the stage at the Jack Singer Concert Hall with A Night at the Opera (March 9). Listen as passion ignites, fury roars and romance simmers in this concert showcasing some of the best operatic arias and choruses, including Nessun Dorma and the Anvil Chorus. Roberto Minczuk leads vocal stars and our own Chorus in a concert that will heat up the stage and light up the night.
