Belgard Kitchen Adds Extra Flavour to Vancouver’s Railtown Neighbourhood

Located at 55 Dunlevy Avenue in the increasingly busy hub know as Railtown, Belgard Kitchen has recently opened the doors to its kitchen and is now serving up plenty of tasty bites in a 65-seat bistro that’s conveniently located next to the Vancouver Urban Winery. Yup, food next to an endless amount of wine.

Overseeing the Belgard is a bevy of culinary talent helmed by Chef Reuben Major (Earl’s alum of almost two decades), Chef de Cuisine Jason Masuch (formerly of Brix and Sanafir) and Sous Chef Mark Reder (previously of The Fish Shack). The Belgard Kitchen is open for lunch, happy hour and also features evening menus perfect for groups of all sizes.

Here’s the scoop on food:

Guests visiting during the lunch hustle can expect a robust dine-in or take away menu ranging from creative salads to rice bowls, burgers and sandwiches, pizzette, a seasonal crock-pot and rotation of daily soups.

Looking to sneak out of the office and make it a Happy Afternoon? Well, the Belgard has that covered for you too with a menu of select food and drink specials guaranteed to make any YP happy after tax season (starting at $3). Happy Afternoon takes place seven days a week from 3pm to 6pm.

The Belgard’s evening menu is loaded with a selection of small plates designed for sharing and on-tap pairing (good news given the 20-odd different wines available to taste).

Diners can nosh on dishes such as mushroom & bacon paté, Swiss cheese fondue, speck & asparagus with meyer lemon vinaigrette and manchego, flank steak with Chimichurri and malbec molasses, foraged mushroom risotto with micro greens and grana padano, and charcuterie boards fashioned with locally cured meats, cheeses with house made condiments.

All of Belgard Kitchen’s dishes are designed to pair well with the growing on-tap offerings in the lounge with further expansion set to include a lineup of craft beer from Postmark Brewing at The Settlement Building (opening in early June 2014).
