What To Wear to The 8th Annual Notable Awards

The fête of the year is just days away.

We’re talking about the 8th Annual Notable Awards, of course! Did we mention our hosts this year are Maripier Morin (Of Hockey Wives fame) and Brandon Prust (yes, the hockey star). If you’re wondering how to get your style on for the Ultimate Throwback House Party, we’ve got you covered with some style and hair inspo from the pros at Loft Urban Salon. With these tricks up your sleeve, you’ll be party-ready in no time. While there will be plenty of nods to the 90’s throughout the night, this is not a costume party. Be inspired by fun accents rather than going to the extreme.

The dreary days of winter are around the corner. ‘Liven up your look during these cold months by adding two simple solutions,” says Sylvie Prud’Homme, Co-Owner and Master Stylist at Loft Urban Salon. “Colour and accessories. When you’re in a pinch and rushing to an after-work gathering like the Notable Awards, all you need are a few accents to take your look from day to WOW!”

Pssst… there is still time to vote for your pals! Head to www.notableawards.com before Friday, November 16th at noon to ensure your friends and co-workers get as many votes as possible! While you’re there, don’t forget to purchase your tickets for the ULTIMATE throwback house party!

Get creative with accent pieces

Think snap bracelets, tiny backpacks, and fun choker necklaces. Let the theme come through in creative ways with your outfit rather than going too over the top with an all-out costume. There will be plenty of networking opportunities so you’ll want to be putting your best-foot-forward.

Beauty Tips

Go ahead, give it a spritz of colour

If you want to kick it up a few notches without fully committing to bright hues, give spay-on hair colour a shot. “These bold shades wash out easily. Channel your inner ‘Ginger Spice’, or go all out with a touch of Stone Wash Denim from KMS (seen on Jordan above.) Brush the colour through your hair for a more natural look. The great thing about these colours: they don’t transfer onto clothes or skin when you’re going in for those double kisses. Plus, the colour won’t leak if you’re caught in a Canadian snowstorm!”

Sparkle, the 2018 way

Hairspray sparkle is where we draw the line. How was that trend ever in? If Kate Spade taught us anything though, it’s that there is a time and a place for sparkle. “We all know that the quickest way to add some glam is by adding some twinkle. Use your hair’s natural texture and Oribe Dry Texturing spray to create a messy chignon. Then fasten it with a few bobby pins. Place crystal barrettes on one side in a loose pattern. The Look is messy and effortless, so don’t get too fussy and waste your time. You’ve got a party to get to!”

Curly Sues, unite

It’s time to embrace your curls, ladies and gents! This 90’s trend is making a huge comeback. “Time for your straight-haired friends to feel the envy. Curly hair adds instantaneous volume. It’s especially useful if you’re going for a modern day Princess Leah look. Space buns are big and playful when your hair is curly. For those who feel their hair is unruly, there’s a sollution for that too. Slick it back with a touch of wax pomade, and off you go.”

Put your letter on it

If you’re more of a trend-setter than a follower, get ahead of the curve and sport one of these chic, sparkly monogram pieces. “Hot off the Max Mara runway, these hair clips are all the rage. While you’re at it, pick up a few as Christmas gifts for your squad.” Sylvie says hair accessories help elevate any look. “There are so many to choose from but if I had to list my favourites I’d say go for snap crystal, jaw or butterfly clips, pearls, fancy scrunchies, tortoiseshell barrettes, leather bandeau or zigzag hair bands.” The secret is to give them all a try and settle on the one that feels like the right match for you.

The Notable Awards are a time to showcase your personality. Have fun with your look and try a style that exudes your personality. If you’ve been dying to revisit a trend from your past, this is the time to bust out your most inspiring 90s statement look, and just go for it!”
