Travel Hot Spot: Bali

A few of our young professional friends just returned home from nearly a month in South East Asia. Naturally, we asked about all the details about their trip, including where the best place was for the YP to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and work stress. They both agreed: the Mu in Bali is the perfect haven to relax and rejuvenate the body and mind…and one that won’t break the bank. Mu is located on a secluded cliff top property at Bingin, on the west coast of Bukit and close to the beautiful white sand beaches of Dreamland and Bingin. It overlooks the famous surfing beaches of Bingin, and is within walking distance to Padang-Padang, a short boat ride to Uluwatu and just 30 minutes from the airport and Kuta.

The property is nestled away from the world and features an assortment of nine bungalows, each of which is built using natural materials and features a grass thatch roof and bamboo and stone walls. Despite the cozy, rustic feel this offers, each is equipped with the luxuries of electricity, fans, hot water, a king-size bed, mosquito net and a private bathroom. The best part? Each bungalow also features a traditional Indonesian Ballet, built on the cliff top. This provides the perfect setting to relax, have a massage and enjoy the stunning views and unmatched sunsets over a glass of wine. A hammock offers the perfect finishing touch.

The complex features a saltwater infinity swimming pool that over looks the magnificent Indian Ocean as well as a cliffside jacuzzi. A tranquil retreat for yoga lovers, guests practice yoga on the wood deck terraces that overlook the sea. On the other hand, to get the adrenaline pumping, other activities include mountain biking, sailing, paragliding, diving and surfing with famouswaves suitable for beginner surfers and advanced pros alike.

Breakfast is included in the price of the stay and includes homemade breads and jams, fruit salad, fresh fruit juice, choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and eggs prepared any style on request. For lunch, Mu offers a selection of delicious sandwiches and mixed salads for around 7 dollars per person. Dinners are served around a communal table every evening at 7:30 p.m. and include themed dinners of Indonesian or Mediterranean food for around 17 dollars per person, including the dessert and herbal tea or coffee.

If you are in need of some R and R, Mu is the perfect place for young professional couples and friends to unwind and refresh.  Tranquil and serene, it offers a break from the outside world, yet shopping districts and spa retreats are only a 25-minute drive away, with personal drivers readily available for a small fee. The entire complex can also be booked for weddings, ceremonies, conferences, business meetings for a minimum of a three-night stay. Fellow hardworking and otherwise internet-addicted YPs, don’t worry, each bungalow is equipped with wi-fi.
