These are the 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds in Canada

Already own a little cuddle monster or are planning to buy a furry companion?

The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), the primary registry for purebred dogs in Canada, recently announced the most popular CKC-registered dog breeds in Canada for 2014. And taking home the grand bone was none other than the Labrador Retriever for the 20th consecutive year.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the breed is known for their intelligence, loyalty, and companionship.

The runner-up has made appearances in movies such as RinTinTin and K-9, giving them more screen time than most other breeds. Yes, it’s none other than the German Shepherd. Known for their versatile nature, this talented sidekick is also the perfect work companion – whether it’s for police work or being the next movie action hero.

Number three on the list is the Labrador’s cousin, the Golden Retriever. A favourite amongst families for their mild temperament and loving nature, this Scottish breed also makes for an amazing service dog.

If your top dog wasn’t mentioned, don’t worry; we have the full top 10 list below:
