Spotify Says These Are Currently the 20 Best Songs To Wake Up To

Waking up is hard/the worst/impossible.

Luckily, we have things like coffee, heated floors in winter, and music to make it slightly easier. Not easy, oh no, just easier. You know, the way running across burning hot coals is easier if you’re on a beach in front of a girl you’re really trying to impress so you take three shots of Jack and hope for the best only to burn your feet to the point that you’re hobbled for the rest of your vacation and the girl ends up falling in love with your best friend ’cause he’s the one who’s able to take her on a long romantic walk on the beach while you tend to your blisters.

But we digress.

The point is, MUSIC.

Namely, the best music to help you wake up in the morning. You see, the data scientists at Spotify got together to create the perfect ‘wake up’ playlist. According to Business Insider, they brought in music psychologist and Cambridge PhD candidate David M. Greenberg to collaborate, and the team came up with three distinct elements each song needed to contain. Again, from BI:

Music That Builds
A song that is too vigorous from the start won’t help you get out of bed — it’s too much too soon. Songs that start more gently (even just for a few seconds) and then build, help you wake up more gradually.

Positivity
Once alert, you need to become motivated for the day to come; positive lyrics can get you out of a grumpy state and shift towards a feel-good attitude.

Strong Beat
It’s not just the lyrics, it’s also the sonic elements of the music. Songs that emphasize beats 2 and 4 of each measure — usually with the bass and drums — with a BPM of approximately 100-130 will get you moving and further the feel good mood.

With that said, here’s the full playlist with the songs listed below:
