Realty Bites: Urban Sunbathing at Home

Yeah, yeah, so we turned back the clocks this weekend and more than ever does it feel like Montreal’s brutal winter is right at our doorsteps. The temperature is dropping and here we are reminiscing about the summer days where the squelching heat reached 36 degrees and made us wish we had a pool to dive right into. Montreal’s secret pool isn’t so secret anymore (you’re lucky if you find a spot on the ground to lay a towel); we certainly aren’t in LA where a hotel such as the Standard opens its doors to YPs like us who are looking to sip on beer or bubbly poolside and, finally, our Old Port’s new beach inspired by the “Paris Plage” just won’t cut it (swimming is forbidden).? If you love living in the city just as much as you enjoy the outdoors, and are toying with the idea of investing in real estate, why not consider buying a condo in a building with privileged access to a rooftop terrace? Check out some of my listings and their fabulous pools below.

Loft des Arts – $484,900

Perched on top of a remodeled historical landmark, located on Clark Street in the Quartier des Spectacles, make some waves in this fabulous lap pool overlooking the downtown skyline.

Or if sofa surfing is more your thing, enjoy VIP seating to every festival right from your living room in this splendid corner unit of 1,077 sq. ft.

As if having Rufus Wainright performing live while you and your friends enjoy a cocktail on the terrasse wasn’t enough, there is always Brasserie T! and F-bar, the offspring of famous Toqué and Cafe Ferreira, to fulfill your gastronomic cravings.

If the tide brings you on the shores of Place des Arts this Sunday, November 11th, come by the open house from 2-4pm.

The Lowney – $312,000

The Lowney is the pioneer in the revitalization of Griffintown. Sandwiched between the Old Port and the downtown core, Griffintown was first populated in the early nineteenth century mostly by Irish unskilled immigrant labourers who worked on the Lachine Canal. Today, the district is flourishing with YPs from all over the world who choose to live and invest in the area.

The Lachine Canal has become an oasis of nature and a wonderful place for Griffintown residents to exercise, have fun or just relax.

Over the years, the Lowney has developed a great reputation. There is no question the rooftop terrace at 400 de l’Inspecteur is the most swanky in the city and the place to be in the summer. In addition to offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city, its got everything a country club would: a gorgeous infinity pool, a campfire pit, a hot tub and BBQs, and lots of beautiful people!

This is definitely the ideal spot to catch a glimpse of Montreal’s International Fireworks Festival on a summer night.

Providing urban refuge in a superb setting, the units below are amongst the most sound and secure real estate investments in today’s fiery market. For close to $300,000, YPs can live comfortably in a one-bedroom condo offering an office area (which will be for pretend use…obviously!) and an indoor parking spot (valued at $40,000!).
