Now Open: Neal’s Yard Remedies

On a dock in Muskoka this summer:

“Oooo you’re off to London? Can you pretty please bring me back some Neal’s Yard Citrus Hand Wash if you have any spare room in your suitcase? It smells so amazing and we can’t get it in Canada anymore!”

Unfortunately, we never seem to have spare room in our suitcase.

Fortunately, however, Neal’s Yard has opened its first Canadian location in Calgary (#130, 2207 4th Street SW) this past June.

Which means organic orange and lemon hand wash for all.

Started in London thirty years ago, Neal’s Yard now has close to 100 stores around the globe. No need to try to remember which beauty product ingredients you’re supposed to avoid, because everything at this one-stop eco-shop is free of parabens, synthetics, and chemicals.

Neal’s Yard employs what they call “herbal science”, which remedies health and beauty needs by utilizing ingredients for their natural properties. Blushers get their colour from peonies and roses, while one of their hand creams is made with honey because it’s a natural moisturizer. And while we thought Frankincense was only a gift wise men gave, apparently it rejuvenates the skin too, so it’s used as a wrinkle reducer in their anti-aging collection.

Right next to the Phil and Sebastian on 4th Street, this cute little shop is an oasis of calm.

And while we hear there are expansion plans for more Canadian locations in the works; let’s just take a second to enjoy the fact that they’ve chosen Calgary as their first Canadian city to call home.
