SATURDAY

One of our favourite local artists and Notable.ca Fusion Award nominee Antoine Tavaglione hosts a TAVA Solo Exhibition entitled The Milky/Milky Way tonight at ARTVStudio at Place des Arts.
This project seeks to tell a story that evokes feelings of inspiration and creation. It wants us to experience a sense of nostalgia when engaging with aesthetic practices once used in vintage cartoons. The installation will be composed of life-size hand painted murals and interactive cut outs. As always, Antoine will be interactive with the audience, allowing us to see him work his magic live!

Ready for a full day of some of the best DJs around? Music Is My Sanctuary, Red Bull Montreal, La Nuit Blanche de Montreal & Le Bleury present 24 Hours of Vinyl #7. The concept is simple but genius: put together approximately 15 DJs, have them relay on the decks while playing only vinyl records for an entire day and stream the whole event on the internet. It is a daylong tribute to the musical format that simply does not want to die: vinyl records. But above the love of vinyl, there is, of course, the love of good music and this is what the main goal of the event is. Come see these vinyl geniuses get creative for 24 hours at Le Bleury and dance the day and night away.

With the Nuit Blanche festivities happening all night, a must see is “Dead Man Walking”, a collaboration of Opéra de Montreal and Place des Arts, available to the public for free. A powerful, pioneering modern opera, Dead Man Walking will be presented for the first time in Quebec by the Opéra de Montreal starting March 9th,  but now you can get an earlier glimpse and experience a profound evening discovering the music of this artwork at the very doors of the prison. Dramatic? Indeed.

SUNDAY

Montreal, forget that diet you have been working so hard on because FAB BOSS is about to ruin it. Alongside DECADENT (food art music), the First Annual Urban “CABANE À SUCRE” at Restaurant GLOBE is taking place today. Get ready to eat all those classic dishes you’ve experienced at the conventional cabane à sucre, but with a DECADENT twist! This includes their very own “in-house” maple syrup taffy and a maple derived cocktail by Nectar & Mixology. A day filled with fatty but delicious food, music by the High Society Crew, special performance by Spidey the magician, Black Mohawk and, of course, all the maple syrup your heart desires.

Our friends at Matinee present “Winter Wonderland,” Montreal’s first ever winter wonderland champagne brunch party! This notable brunch will be held inside a massive igloo located in the Villages des Neige in Parc Jean Drapeau. An amazing brunch will be served by the 5-star chefs of the Intercontinental Hotel. After the feast, the party will move into the Ice Bar Igloo where guests, clad in their best 80s and 90s neon suits, will dance the day away to DJs Toddy Flores and Danny Torrence. We hope you still have your best one piece suit at home young professionals!
