Men are Posting Pictures of Themselves in Their Underwear All Over Instagram

Has the hashtag #manties graced your Instagram feed yet?

If not, it could work its way in there soon – especially if you’re known to follow some really good-looking gentlemen.

Giving the ripped, gym-loving set a perfect opportunity to show off all those hours clocked at GoodLife, #manties became a thing last month when it sprung up on Instagram. The idea, of course, is for men to flaunt what they’ve got in their undies, usually in the form of a selfie. The only formal rule is that the underwear must be present in the shot.

For the most part, we’re not necessarily complaining about the whole #manties trend.

We mean, a scroll through the hashtag is pretty amusing. Who knew there were so many different styles of men’s underwear out there? Though the colour, style, pattern, and size may vary, one thing remains constant: the guys are all pretty ripped.

In a similar fashion as the female-oriented #ImNoAngel campaign – a social media campaign designed to embrace the curves of women of all sizes – we wonder what the feed would look like if it featured men of varying shapes. We also wonder how long it’s going to take for another hashtag to turn up that encourages the ladies to post their own racy panty shots. Oh, social media, how we love/hate you. We’d be more on board if it was designed to raise awareness for a cause – or awareness about anything other than the fact that most of the #manties posters are clearly the type to spend most of their time watching themselves in the mirror at the gym.
