Introducing Rasa: The Food Dudes’ New Harbord St. Restaurant

Sometimes you just have to do you.

And while we’ve already told you about the myriad of food-related activities The Food Dudes are up to in Toronto, their latest is definitely worth the visit.

Rasa can mean many things, but usually it’s about flavour and sentiment. And for The Food Dudes (Adrian Niman and Brent McClenahan) and Rasa partner Adam Minster, it was about building a restaurant that they’d want to eat dinner at every night. It was about creating a 360-degree attitude toward food, service, and design.

And it looks like it worked.

The space itself, located on the corner of Harbord and Robert (196 Robert St.), is conceptual in every detail. Damon Snider of TYPE-D rebuilt it from the ground up. Light pours out between boards. Welded pipes reach through the walls behind the bar. The bathrooms are pure white – clean slates for a mid-meal escape.

Rasa is about breaking through and starting new. If the Food Dudes’ 10,000 sq. ft headquarters in the east end is their home, this is where there heart is.

Currently only serving friends and family – doors officially open to the public on Wednesday, June 25th – Rasa can seat just shy of 50 in its indoor urban barn-like space while a 50-seat wrap around patio is in the works for the coming weeks.

The menu is Toronto inspired. In other words, global. And of course all made with the same commitment to quality you’ve come to take for granted from The Food Dudes. Look for bone marrow with truffle snow, Fritto Misto, lobster bites, calamari Bolognese, and egg yolk gnudi among many others.

Open for dinner, snacks, and drinks Wednesday through Sunday at 5:30pm with last seatings available until 10:30pm, we suggest you stop by next week and find your own definition of Rasa.
