Good Vibes Only: How to Bring More Positivity into Your Life

It’s been a couple of weeks, months even, and you know you’re in a rut.

Whether it’s a toxic relationship or a dead-end job, you’re just not feeling so good about yourself.

All you really want to do is crawl into your bed and sleep the day away. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.

At one time or another, we’ve all entered a lull where there’s little creativity or excitement going on in our lives, but most of the time it’s just a phase and you will get out of it.

And with the summer in full swing, it’s even easier to get up, get moving, and start infusing some positivity into your day. You don’t need to make big changes to make yourself happy. It’s all about the little things.

We’ve come up with some simple pick-me-ups to get you out of your rut and into your groove.

1. Smile at a stranger

This one might seem a bit weird, especially in a city where eye contact is almost always substituted for looking at your phone. But you’d be surprised – a small smile can go a long way. Smiling will put you in a better mood and it might even make the other person happier too. Heck, it might even make their day. It’s a win-win situation.

2. Go for a walk in the park

Nature can work wonders. Even if it’s only a five-minute walk, you’ll be reaping the benefits of getting away from the city for a bit. You can bask in the quiet and breathe in some fresh air, maybe even play with some squirrels. The serenity and peace you soak in at a park will stay with you throughout the day.

3. Treat yo’self

Yes, it’s important to eat healthy and sure, working hard is important. But once in a while, you’ve just got to treat yourself. Indulge in small pleasures and it’ll be like taking a mini vacation. Whether you grab yourself a nice scoop of ice cream after work or book a mani and pedi session on the weekend, your mind and body will thank you.

4. Start your day with a little “me” time

Mornings are the calmest part of the day. Before you get into your daily hustle and bustle, take some time for yourself. Even a couple of minutes will make a huge change. Wake up a little bit earlier, sit down with your morning coffee, and focus on your thoughts. Remind yourself of all the great things you’ll be doing that day and you’re guaranteed to get into a more positive frame of mind.
