6 Ways to Unwind in Toronto This Summer

Living in a city as vibrant as Toronto means that you always have an event to be at every day of the week.

And if you’re not making frequent visits to Muskoka, you can wind up feeling overworked and exhausted. But rather than let a hectic schedule get the best of you, put your social life on pause for a few hours and focus on relaxing.

And no, this doesn’t mean binge-watching your favourite shows on Netflix.

We’ve rounded up the best ways to unwind in the city this summer. Make sure to free up some space on your calendar so you can try out each activity.

Outdoor Yoga

Toronto is filled with places to get your vinyasa on, but rather than opting for the traditional studio route, de-stress in the sunshine and enjoy a yoga class outdoors. And as Torontonians, we’re pretty spoiled when it comes to outdoor yoga options this summer. Harbourfront Centre, Park Yoga, Yogathletix, Flow-Active, Breathe Yoga, Octopus Garden, Lolë White Tour, and Lift Yoga will be offering classes throughout the summer at various locations.

Paddle Boarding Class

Work out your frustrations this summer by taking part in a paddle board class along picturesque Lake Ontario. WSUP, Sup Girlz, and Toronto Island SUP offer group and solo lessons, which will not only give you a full body workout, the fresh air and sunshine will help clear your thoughts as well.

Rooftop Pool

Now that summer is in full swing, there’s no better place to unwind but lounging poolside. Luckily for us, Toronto has plenty of rooftop pools that are open to the public and the perfect place to collect your thoughts while catching some rays. Hyatt Regency, Sheraton Centre, and Radisson have outdoor pools you can buy a day pass for. Or if you feel like dishing out some extra cash or know someone that lives in the building, the Thompson Hotel rooftop pool has one of the nicest views in the city.

Foot Massage

Rather than going the traditional route and simply getting a massage to unwind, head to Happy Foot Spa in Yorkville where you can relax with an hour long foot rub. You’ll literally be in a state of bliss as the masseuse massages out any tensions you might be feeling.

Float Spa

Float your cares away at one of Toronto’s many float spas. For those who don’t know what a float spa is, essentially, you’ll be put in a float pod filled with water saturated with high-density Epsom salts that will allow your body to float effortlessly. As your body begins to naturally float, you will begin to lose track of your senses and you’ll be put in a total state of relaxation. H20 Float Spa, Float Toronto, and Rest Nest have all of the services you need to enter a state of total relaxation.

Go For a Scenic Hike

Scarborough Bluffs

De-clutter your mind by going for a scenic hike at either Scarborough Bluffs or Bluffers Park. These spots are the ideal spots for finding some peace and quite outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown. The best part is the rewarding views you’ll get to see along the way.
