Donald Trump’s future Vice President, Mike Pence, was on Broadway last week to take in a performance of the universally-acclaimed ‘Hamilton’, a musical that features an exceptionally multicultural cast.
Pence wasn’t too well received by many of those in attendance and drew boos when his presence was made aware. This is a man who supported an amendment to ban marriage equality, wanted to divert HIV prevention funding to conversion therapy and served on the board of an anti-gay group.
Trump, of course, was not amused.
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2016
Trump, of course, was also wrong. Mike Pence was not harassed by the cast of Hamilton, nor were they rude.
They did, however, offer a necessary lesson on democracy and equality. Actor Brandon Victor Dixon gave an especially impassioned speech on behalf of “the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that [Trump and Pence’s] new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.” Check it out below:

Pence reportedly walked out before he could finish.
