The market for wearable devices is estimated to surpass $30 billion by 2018, and though that prediction seems unlikely, the CFDA is working hard to help its designers build relationships with behemoth tech companies. We are all aware of the Nike fuelband, the Samsung Galaxy Gear watch and Google Glass, but here are five fashionable, wearable (and uncomplicated) technology products available now that you probably haven’t heard of.
Phone Charging Hangbags
From emPOWERED bags to Might Purse and Everpurse, there are numerous tech-enabled bag lines that offer elegant handbags with built-in battery power to charge your phone and/or other portable electronic devices. They contain hidden high capacity, built-in batteries that can charge a phone from 0% to fully charged. These bags are easy to recharge by plugging in to the USB end of a computer cable or wall adapter.
CuteCircuit Dresses
CuteCircuit is a haute tech collection that offers ready-to-wear LED light-up skirts, blazers, evening dresses and purses. In 2010, Katy Perry wore their K Dress at the MET Gala in New York, which features LED lights that glow and sparkle in whatever colour and pattern you choose. In 2012, Nicole Scherzinger wore the world’s first Haute Couture Twitter Dress, a dress that features animations that moved around her body for fans and press to share their tweets directly to the Haute Couture Dress. CuteCircuit’s unique visions landed them at NYFW this year, where they featured LED light-up garments that are controlled via your mobile phone that allow you to change the pattern or colour of the garment.
Alexander Wang’s Heated Activated Garments
Alexander Wang’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection used heat sensitive leather fabrics that were laser cut, knit and woven to change colours in different temperatures. He has also offered a thermo-reactive black calf leather bag that is sensitive to heat and transforms into a citron hue upon contact.

Lululemon launched their Heart Rate Monitor All Sports Bra, which has integrated heart rate sensors to help you strategically adjust speed or power, maintain pace and prevent over-training.
