Event Recap: Tiffany and Co. Goes Gatsby

We awoke bright and early Tuesday morning and (tried) to put our best face forward. After chugging back at least one black coffee, we headed out into the glorious Vancouver rain and made our way over to the iconic Tiffany & Co. boutique for an aptly-named ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’ for an equally iconic cause: a peek at the special American Travelling Glamour Collection

Just why was this particular event worth noting in our books? Aside from the fact that it got us up and at ‘em on the early side, this collection celebrates one of our favourite, classy eras: the Jazz Age (not to mention one of our all-time favorite novels).

This elegant-yet-opulent special edition collection was created specifically for Baz Luhrmann’s rendition of The Great Gatsby and we literally tried our hand at wearing a number of items such as this one.

We made our way around the room (coffee and pastry in hand courtesy of Bel Cafe Catering) and had a wonderful opportunity to engage with a number of other young professionals and creatives equally as enthralled by the glittery pieces.

In an era fuelled by seemingly never-ending extravagance and lush sense of style, the various items featured as part of the collection are magical, simply put. With Tiffany & Co. Store Director Robert Ferguson on hand, we heard all about the history and role Tiffany jewels have played over time as well as just why it was a natural fit that such an iconic purveyor of timeless style be part of an equally iconic cinematic story.

The lavish pearl, diamond and gem-incrusted creations (on loan from Tiffany’s NYC studio) were worn predominantly by lead actress Cary Mulligan (Daisy) and certainly oozed a sense of classic elegance we adore.
