Canada is the Only Country to Secure Netflix Rights for the New Star Wars Movie

For once, it will be Americans trying to figure out how to be Canadians on Netflix.

That’s because it looks like our true north strong and free country will be the only one with the rights to stream Star Wars: The Force Awakens on everyone’s favourite weekend friend.

Variety reports that due to a previously made agreement for Disney content, we’ll be the only ones able to watch it when it’s finished what will likely be a record-breaking run in theaters this winter.

Although most of the world won’t get the new content, most of the world (including Canada), may see the original Star Wars films pop up on Netflix sometime in 2016.

Why we have been chosen, we don’t know (perhaps our similarity to the Ice Planet, Hoth), but we do know one thing:

Happy, Canadian Star Wars fans will be. Jealous, the rest of the world will feel.
